Following many years of cruising experience in the Ionian, Stuart (a.k.a. Captain Dex) had the ultimate retirement plan...purchase a 42ft yacht and spend 6 months of the year cruising the Eastern Mediterranean and Ionian Sea.

Plans came together quickly with the purchase of Nanaia in 2005, a 2000 model 42ft Bavaria, and a couple of shake down seasons before inviting crew to join on a non-commercial cost share basis from 2008. The 2008 season was outstanding and Sunny Sailing Adventures was born!

The following 18 years, through to 2026, saw crew and future friendships from all over the world! Please see the photos section for some of the highlights.

Captain Dex took the very difficult decision to sell Nanaia at the end of the 2026 season. But he hasn't hung up his captain's hat. Short charters are on the cards....please get in touch if you're up for sharing a charter.

Sunny Sailing Adventures The original concept:

Crew were invited to help Capn Dex sail the Eastern Med and Ionian. The route was basically chosen by the crew with suggestions from Capn Dex depending on experience, weather etc.

An enjoyable way of building confidence between flotilla sailing and buying your own boat, in great company, enjoyable swimming stops and evening restaurants. Beginners very much welcomed.
